Ganesh Himal Trek is a moderate trek. The trail is adventurous and includes steep climbing from time to time. Likewise, you also have to walk on a rugged path. Sound health and strong physical fitness are needed to go on this journey. As you have to walk 6 to 7 hours a day, you also need to have constant stamina to walk. If you are a new beginner trekker then we recommend you do jogging and exercise to increase your stamina and muscular power.
Best time to go on Ganesh Himal Trek
Autumn (September to Mid-December) and spring (March to May) are the peak time of the year to go on Ganesh Himal Trek. The weather is mostly stable and moderate. There are slightly cold during the morning and nighttime, however, the days are more warm and lovely.

You will stay overnight in a tent during Ganesh Himal Trek. All the tents are provided by the company. We offer high-quality twin sleeping tents for every crew member with a common dining tent and washroom tent.

Betrawati is the starting point of the Ganesh Himal trekking. To reach here, you take a long drive from Kathmandu. The drive offers beautiful views of lush green hills, forests, and small settlement areas.

The trail passes through many dense forests, where you get to see a range of flora and fauna like wild musk deer, wild boars, jharal, langur, leopard, etc. Likewise, you also walk through different villages. Every new forest and village presents you with a distinct ambiance and views.

Cross Shing La Pass
From Rupchet village, you head towards Kharka crossing Shing La Pass, which is 4,600 meters high. The trail to the top of the pass is strenuous. You have to walk on a steep and rugged path. Upon reaching the pass, you get to witness fantastic views of snow-capped mountains and surrounding scenery.

Ganesh Himal trek itinerary
Ganesh Himal trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Betrawati. From here, the trail slowly ascends to Kispang and continues to Gonga via Thulo Chaur. The trail then heads to Rupchet and crosses Shing La Pass to reach Kharka. Further, the trail passes through lush forests and gradually descends to Khahare through Borang, Jharlang, and Kintang Phedi.
Detailed Itinerary of Ganesh Himal Trek
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to the hotel
You meet with our airport representative at the terminal gate. He welcomes you and takes you to the hotel. Your evening is free and after you’ve refreshed, you can go for a stroll down the street to get familiar with your surroundings.
Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu
After having breakfast, you go on a guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. Our professional and experienced tour guide accompany you during the tour. He takes you to monuments like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhnath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. These sites are part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and reflect Nepali art & architecture. Later, in the afternoon, you meet with your trek guide and He briefs you about the trip and the trail.
Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Betrawati
Today, you drive to Betrawati after having breakfast. Passing by Trishuli Bazar, you reach Betrawati, where you are camping for the night.
Day 04: Trek from Betrawati to Kispang
After having breakfast, the trail slowly ascends to Kispang. You have to trek for around 5 hours through small villages and lush forests. On the way, you get to see a diverse range of vegetation and wild-flowers.
Day 05: Trek from Kispang to Thulo Chaur
Leaving Kispang behind, the trail ascends to Thulo Chaur. You trek through dense forests and pass by settlement areas. On the way, you also come across stupas and monasteries. Further, trekking through farmlands and beautiful waterfalls, you reach Thulo Chaur.
Day 06: Trek from Thulo Chaur - Gonga
The trail steadily ascends through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, fir, oak, and juniper. Again, you see a range of flora while passing by the forests. Upon reaching Gonga, you get to see stunning views of many snow-capped Himalayan mountains.
Day 07: Trek from Gonga to Rupchet
From Gonga, you begin trekking towards Rupchet. The trail goes through dense and beautiful pine & rhododendron forests. You get to see animals like monkeys, wild boar, etc on the way. Further, the trail gradually climbs and reaches Rupchet, where you are camping today.
Day 08: Trek from Rupchet to Shing La Pass to Kharka
After having breakfast, you ascend to Shing La Pass. The trail to the top of the pass is tough. You have to walk on a steep and rugged path. Upon reaching the top of the pass, you get to see Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manasalu, and numerous other snow-capped mountains. From here, the trail descends to Kharka for a night's stay.
Day 09: Trek from Kharka to Borang
Leaving Kharka behind, you begin descending towards Borang. The trail drops down through terraced fields and villages to reach Borang. It is a beautiful Tamang village.
Day 10: Trek from Borang to Jharlang
After having breakfast, you trek to Jharlang. The trail moves through terraced fields and small villages. You get to see wonderful scenery on the way to Jharlang.
Day 11: Trek from Jharlang to Kintang Phedi
Today, you trek and reach Kintang Phedi. The trail from Jharlang descends through small villages and forested paths.
Day 12: Trek from Kingtang Phedi to Khahare
After having breakfast, you begin trekking following the Netrawati River valley. The trail moves through lush forests. On the way, get to see superb landscape views. After trekking for around five hours, you reach Khahare for a night stay.
Day 13: Explore Day at Khahare
Today is the rest day at Khahare. You explore the village and visit the school, where you spend time with children. We have sponsored a few underprivileged children here. Later, you visit a river where you can go swimming and fishing.
Day 14: Drive from Khahare Bazar to Kathmandu by bus
Today, you drive from Khahare Bazar to Kathmandu after having a delicious breakfast. The drive goes along the well-made road and reaches Kathmandu. You head to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore around and relax.
Day 15: Transfer to airport for your departure
Today is the last day of your journey with us. One of our team members takes you to the airport for your flight back home.
